Currently Reading

I'm currently reading The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson.  I enjoyed his Mistborn series (even though I found it very wordy), but I'm not enjoying this one much at all.  I'm 170 pages in, and am not very interested at all.  Reading it feels like a chore.  It's our book club book, so I will soldier on.

My Wishlist

I always have books on my wishlist.  It's what I ask for every birthday and Christmas.  Some on my wishlist right now are proper romances.

I would love Julianne Donaldson's Edenbrooke in hardcover (that includes Heir to Edenbrooke).

I'd love Rachael Anderson's My Sister's Intended.  I have the e-book but would enjoy the paperback.

And I'd also like Sarah Eden's Loving Lieutenant Lancaster.  I have read all the Jonquil and Lancaster series up to that point, and they intersect in this book!

Favorite Bookstore

My favorite bookstore is an LDS bookstore called Deseret Book.  The books aren't all religious, but I know that whatever I find there is not going to have terrible stuff in it.  That is great!

A Happy Ending

One cute book I read recently was The Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery.

It had a happy ending and I was pleased with that, especially since it didn't seem like it would end happily.

Initials Challenge

The challenge this time is to find books that start with my initials, which are M & J, so here they are:

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

I actually think those books are similar and enjoyed both of them.

Red & Black

I love the look of red and black together.  I always have.  They were even my wedding colors.  So I'm choosing some favorite books with red and black covers.  That's actually really easy because I have the Twilight books on my shelf, and they all look great together.

Sometimes I do judge a book by its cover!

Books Turned into Movies

I almost always think, "The book was better" after I watch a movie.  There are a couple exceptions.  Safe Haven and A Walk to Remember--both are Nicholas Sparks books.

I love how you can add music in movies.  It makes the book come to life.

My Favorite 5-Star Read

I am a bit stingy when rating books, so I don't have a ton of 5-star reads, but this is one of my favorites:

Julianne Donaldson has such an incredible way with words and telling a story that is captivating and clean.  I love the characters in this story, and it is such a beautiful romance.  I have read it at least 5 times already, and will read it again before Christmas.  I love it!

A Favorite Quote

One of my favorite quotes comes from As a Man Thinketh, by James Allen.

“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream.”

I like it because it reminds me that even if I'm just imagining something that doesn't seem possible, everything started out that way--just a dream.

Tackle Your TBR Wrap-Up

I didn't read everything I was hoping to, but I did finish a few books and started a new book I have been meaning to get to.  It is our book club pick, so it was good to get started on it.

Books Finished: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Falling for You by Becky Wade, and Remember Me Always by Renee Collins.

Book Started: The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson

Pages Read: 821

Overall, a good week!

Fall Into Books Reading Challenge

I am participating in I Am a Reader's Fall Into Books Reading Challenge.

I love challenges because they encourage me to do the thing I love, which is read.

My book goals: I want to read a book club book I've been putting off: The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson.  I think it will be a good one.

I also want to finish the Harry Potter series and read some other books I got from the library.  Here's to crossing these books off my list!
